Post race comments:
The conditions were fair tonight for the first handicap
race of the year. Debutant Tee led the race until
reigning champion David Hay and then Davie Dawson passed him
just beyond the 4km mark. They both settled down
to fight out the finish, unaware that Michael Maxton was
closing in fast. Michael then hit the front with
300m to go and was challenged by a resurgent David Hay
in the final stretch. Michael was able, however,
to hold onto the lead to claim his first handicap win. |

but Lynne Kelly overtook them shortly afterwards and ran
strongly to the finish line to clock a personal best
