22/03/11 2011 5K Handicap - March Race
Congratulations to Frances Clarke who stormed ahead to win this month's 5K handicap race,
setting a fantastic PB in the process. Well done to Joanne Melarkey, Davie Dawson, Cheryl McNulty and Andy McLinden who also set PBs
this month. Davie Dawson has moved to the top of the leaderboard after this second race of the series, closely followed by Joanne and
Cheryl who are tied in second position.
13/03/11 Running against the Elements
Despite the adverse weather conditions, several Harriers made the races this weekend.
There was once again a good turn out at the Strathclyde parkrun. Jim Breen was first home and Cheryl McNulty continued what now seems
to be a habit of a lifetime and set another PB. Andy McLinden travelled north to run the Inverness Half Marathon, finishing an impressive
first in age category. And Jim Breen, not content with the Strathclyde parkrun on Saturday, also ran the Gartmorn 6 trail race on Sunday,
although admits staying standing on the extremely muddy and slippy course proved impossible at least 3 times.
This weekend also saw the start of the men's Grand Prix and a change at the top of the ladies leaderboard with the Balloch to
Clydebank Half Marathon. Michael Brawley and David Hay started the scoring on the men's Grand Prix, with Michael finishing first and
setting a fantastic PB in the process. Joanne Melarkey represented the ladies at the same race and has now moved into first place on
the ladies leaderboard. 06/03/11 Grand Prix 2011 - Ladies make a start
Cheryl McNulty and Joanne Melarkey have kicked off the 2011 Grand Prix
with the Nigel Barge 10K. Well done girls! Cheryl was first home, setting an impressive PB and taking an early lead. The Grand Prix 2011

26/02/11 February Parkruns
Hamilton Harriers were supporting all three scottish parkruns
this month, suggesting it may not always be about the bacon rolls after all. Michael Brawley continued to
finish in the top three at Strathclyde and set a PB in the process. Both Terry Grady and Emma Stevenson
also set PBs around the same course in February. Full results are now posted on the Results page.
26/02/11 Dave Adams Jnr wins the 2010/2011 XC Handicap Series
Congratulations to Dave Adams Jnr who won this winter's XC Handicap Series, with Cheryl McNulty taking second place and David Hay finishing in third. The Series was contested over 8 races, in all weathers, between November and February. Dave and Cheryl put up a close fight at the end, both earning PBs in the last race. In the end Dave came out on top by one point. Photographs of the final race and the prize giving can be found here.
22/02/11 2011 5K Handicap Series Begins
Congratulations to Jim Breen who won the first 5K handicap of the year. This first race was well attended, with 17 Harriers lining up at the start. Special mention also to Cheryl McNulty, Andy McLinden and Emma Stevenson who all ran PBs this month. Results are now available here.

30/01/11 The first of the Parkruns
The Hamilton Harriers were well represented in the local Strathclyde Pk
Parkrun this month, with many signing up for the early morning race (and bacon buttie back at the
clubhouse) including John Berry, Ross Bickerstaff, Davie Kelly, Cheryl McNulty, Joanne Melarkey, Michael Brawley,
Lindsey Gray, Terry Grady, Neil Robbins and Dave Adams Jnr. Special mention to Michael Brawley who won the 40th
Parkrun on 15th January and to Terry Grady who clocked a Season's Best in yesterday's race.
23/01/11 2010 5K Christmas Handicap
The Hamilton Harriers 5K Christmas Handicap, held this weekend after
being postponed due to adverse weather in December, was well worth waiting for. Once again the event was well supported,
with 25 harriers running the race.
The handicap was won by Emma Stevenson who ran a well contested race, taking one minute off her Peronal Best around the
loop, to finish in 23 minutes 09 seconds. Cheryl McNulty was a mere 3 seconds behind, again running
an impressive PB to finish in 23 minutes 12 seconds and just ahead of Alex Robertson who clocked the fastest time of the
day, 17 minutes 35 seconds. Emma also won the 5K nominated time, with an estimated time just 9 seconds off the
actual time. 23/01/11 2010 Annual Prize Giving
The postponed 5K Christmas Handicap was followed in the evening by the annual prize giving ceremony for 2010, during which awards were presented to the winners of the Grand Prix League Series, the 5K Handicap Series, the monthly 5K Handicap races and the Endeavour awards. The men's Grand Prix was won by John Berry who impressively led the series from start to finish, while the women's Grand Prix was more tightly contested and finally won by a surprised but deserving Helen Whyte. Joanne Melarkey and Michael Maxton picked up the Endeavour Awards for showing most improvement throughout the year, while Terry Grady, Davie Dawson and Roy Foot were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively in the 5K handicap series,as reported in November last year. Full results and photographs of both the race and the ceremony can be viewed here .
