27/12/09 Cambuslang 10K Race
Well done to both Jim Breen and Neil Robbins who braved the challenging conditions
and temperatures to take part in the post christmas Cambuslang race. Due to the dangerous conditions underfoot the road race was changed to
a 6.7km XC race across the exceptionally boggy snow-covered rugby pitches. Jim found time to dash home and pick up his spikes before
finishing 8th overall and collecting 3rd Vet prize. Neil finished a very respectable 11th overall.
19/12/09 Club XC Handicap Series in the Snow
Congratulations to Dave Adams Jnr who won the fourth handicap race of
Club XC Handicap series, in a time equalling his PB. The course was covered in a blanket of snow and both John Berry and Davie Kelly took
advantage of the harder conditions underfoot to finish with a PB today.
19/12/09 Glasgow Parkrun - Jim Breen moves up the rankings
Congratulations to Jim Breen who braved the baltic conditions to finish 4th overall, his
highest placing yet, in this weekend's race in a very wintry Pollock Park.
12/12/09 Club XC Handicap Series in the Fog
Congratulations to Ross Bickerstaff who won the third handicap race of
this winter's XC Handicap Series - the race was run in extremely foggy conditions but we totally believe him when he says he
didn't take any shortcuts. Congratulations to both Ross and to Davie Kelly who earned themselves a PB this weekend.
12/12/09 Glasgow Parkrun Course PB for Jim Breen
Congratulations to Jim Breen who smashed his Glasgow Parkrun course
best by 18 seconds to finish 5th overall and 1st Vet home in this weekend's race.
11/12/09 Annual 5K Christmas Handicap
The Hamilton Harriers 5K Christmas Handicap, held last Saturday, was
deemed a great success. The Handicap was followed by the annual prize giving ceremony in the Pitz Soccer Academy
in Hamilton. Once again the event was well supported, with over 20 members running the race and many more Harriers
and family and friends turning out to cheer the runners around the 5K loop.
The handicap was won by David Kelly who
ran a strong race to finish in 22 minutes 03 seconds, taking over one full minute off his PB. David finished 19
seconds ahead of Peter Middleton, who held valiantly on to second place. Neil Robbins, who finished third in a time of
17 minutes 35 seconds, clocked the fastest time of the day. During the prize giving ceremony, awards were presented to
the winners of the Grand Prix League Series, the 5K Handicap Series, the monthly 5K Handicap races, the Endeavour
prizes and the various Club organised races throughout the year. Full results and photographs of both the race and
the ceremony can be viewed here . Special thanks to Warburtons who supplied an excellent selection of fruit loaves for participants and prize winners.
Thanks are also extended to Mark Bryson who supplied the catering, Dave Adams Jnr who provided the entertainment and to Neil Robbins
who reliably ensures there is water for everyone at the end of the handicap races.
01/12/09 The New Clubhouse
David Hay is now collecting forms and fees in preparation for moving into the new clubhouse. Please see David if you still need a form. 30/11/09 Smashing PBs!
Congratulations to Jim Breen and Neil Robbins who ran both the Hugh Wilson Memorial 10k and the St Andrews Day 6K road races at the weekend. Both are running exceptionally well at the moment with Jim earning a PB in both the 6K and the 10K and Neil earning a PB in the 6K! Well done to both!
27/11/09 Club XC Handicap Series
Congratulations to John Berry who won the second club cross country handicap of the series last weekend, inspite of the mud! John now shares top spot on the leaderboard with David Hay. Well done to everyone who turned out for the race despite the extremely muddy conditions, there are hippos who would have stayed at home. All results now posted!
27/11/09 5K Parkrun PBs
Congratulations to Neil Robbins and Jim Breen who both earned PBs at the 6th Edinburgh Parkrun last weekend. In a reversal of club half marathon handicap the week before, Neil pipped Jim to the post with 100m to go. Well done to you both!

Congratulations to Andy McLinden who finished 4th in the male V55 category and collected 3rd team prize in the same category at the British and Irish Masters CC Race last weekend. Well done Andy!
19/11/09 Club 5K Handicap Series - We have a winner!
Congratulations to Davie Dawson who tops the 5K series leaderboard at the close of the 2009 5K handicap series. Well done Davie! Davie finished in 3rd place in the final 5K of the series to secure first place overall, 10 points clear of David Hay who holds valiantly on to second place in the table. A special mention also to Neil Robbins who won tonight's race. Well done Neil!

15/11/09 Club Annual Half Marathon Handicap
Congratulations to Monique Duffy who clocked a fantastic PB of 1hr 53mins 38sec to win this year's Half Marathon Handicap race. Well done Monique! Congratulations also to David Hay and Jim Breen who also clocked PBs to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively. Well done to all Harriers who took part in yesterdays race - results and photos now posted!
07/11/09 Grand Prix League Series Comes to a Close
The 2009 Grand Prix League series comes to a close following the final 3 races, Strathaven Run with the Wind (and Rain) 10K, the Hamilton 5K and the Deloitte Glasgow University 5mile Road Races. Congratulations to Claire Purdie and to Jim Breen who top the leaderboards this year and get to buy us all a drink! Well done to all Harriers who took part in these final 3 Grand Prix races, results now posted!

Congratulations to Paulo Leite who ran a fantastic PB in the Dublin Marathon to dip under the 3hr 30 mark with a time of 3hr 29mins 08secs. Well done Paulo!
26/10/09 Cross Country Training and Handicap
The Club's cross country training has resumed. Training takes place on Saturday mornings, 8.15am, at the Priory Parks football pitches, Blantyre Farm Road. Congratulations to Jim Breen who ran the Jedburgh Half Marathon this weekend, clocking a Personal Best time this year. Congratulations also to Neil Robbins, Ross Bickerstaff and Davie Kelly who represented the Harriers in the Great Cumbria Half Marathon on the same day. Results now posted!
22/10/09 Club Cross Country Training and Handicap Series
The Club's cross country training is planned to begin this Saturday. A cross country handicap series, which will be made up of 8 races over the coming months, will be incorporated into the training this year. More details to follow soon!
22/10/09 DATE CHANGE - Club Half Marathon Handicap
The Hamilton Harriers annual half marathon handicap race has been moved to Sunday 15th November. This is to allow members to take part in the Glasgow University 5 mile Road Race, a grand prix league race, the weekend before.
18/10/09 SVHC Scottish Masters Athletics
Congratulations to Andy McLinden and Willie Hamill who ran in the Vets Scottish Masters 10k Track Championship. Andy won gold in the V55 category while Willie picked up silver in the V75 category. Well done Andy and Willie!
18/10/09 A Stroll in the Park
Neil Robbins, Jim Breen and Monique Duffy have been representing the Club in the Glasgow Parkrun series over the last two weeks. Congratulations to Neil on his first run, to Monique on improving her course record by over 30 seconds in a single week and to Jim who narrowly missed beating his course record by a few seconds. Congratulations to Andy McLinden who came first in the V55 age category and earned a Season's Best to boot, with a time of 17min 28s in the Rathfarnham 5K Road Race in Dublin. Well done Andy!
11/10/09 Flying in Fife
Congratulations to Alex Robertson and Jim Breen who ran the Giffordtown 5K and finished 1st in V45 category and 2nd in V40 category respectively. Alex collected a prize for 2nd Vet overall and Jim earned himself a new PB! Well done! Results now posted.

Well done to Jim Breen, David Hay and Grant McKenna who represented the Club at the Strathcarron 10K Road Race and to Claire Purdie and Monique Duffy who both ran for the Club in the Glasgow Parkrun. Congratulations to Claire who takes the lead in the Ladies Grand Prix League after picking up 5 points in the Parkrun. Results now posted!
02/10/09 5K Handicap Series Faux Pas
The final 5K Handicap of the 2009 series will be in November and NOT in October as originally reported on this page. That means 2 more races to go! Davie Dawson tops the leaderboard with a very impressive 7 point lead and while the closest challenge still comes from Paulo Leite and David Hay, many others are still in contention and so must keep trying! Don't give up now!! Apologies for any confusion. The penultimate race of the series will be held on Tuesday 27th October.

Congratulations to Neil Robbins who broke the 3 hour mark in the Moray Marathon in Elgin to finish 3rd in the V40 age category and 6th overall! Well done Neil!
13/09/09 Calderglen 10 Mile Road Race
Well done to Dave Adams Snr, Ross Bickerstaff, Lindsey Gray and Davie Kelly who represented the Hamilton Harriers in the Calderglen Harriers 25th Anniversary 10 Mile Road Race this weekend. A challenging and undulating course (are there no flat races anymore?),Dave Adams Snr was the first home for the Club, finishing 1st in the V60 age category. Congratulations Dave! Results now posted.
13/09/09 Cumbernauld 10K Road Race
Congratulations to Roy Foot who achieved a PB of 45mins 36secs in the Cumbernauld 10K Road Race! This supercedes the PB he set at the Paisley Vision 10k which went without mention. Apologies Roy!
08/09/09 High Vis Time!
The season of X-factor, Strictly and darker nights is upon us. All club members are now requested to wear High Vis Vests during the evening sessions. Any Club member who does not have a High Vis Vest should notify the club via the Contact Us link (or by emailing lynne_kelly@hotmail.com if you do not have Outlook installed) and a vest will be provided free of charge. In the interest of safety the Club insists - No High Vis Vest, No run.
06/09/09 Great Scottish Run
Congratulations to all Harriers who ran the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon and 10k Road Races. Special mention to Andy McLinden who finished first in the V55 age category in the Half Marathon and to Gary Mooney (U21) who also ran an excellent race to finish 21st overall in the 10k Road Race! Andy was the first harrier home in the Half and one of six Harriers to clock a Season's Best time on Sunday. The others included Dave Adams Jnr, Michael Maxton, Paulo Leite, David Hay and Davie Kelly. Congratulations also to Monique Duffy who ran her first Half Marathon with the Club. 16/08/09 A Blustery Bella 5K
Well done to Dave Adams Jnr, John Berry and Claire Purdie who ran the Bella 5K at the weekend in challenging weather conditions. Dave Adams Jnr was the first harrier home, apparently bagging 3 fruit loaves into the bargain! Result!

1/08/09 Islay Half Marathon
Well done to all Harriers who travelled to Islay for a wet and windy half marathon. Congratulations to John Berry who ran a fantastic race to be the first harrier home in 1hr 28m 58s,despite the blustery conditions. John also picked up 3rd MV50 prize. Congratulations also to Brian Campbell and Dave Adams Snr who came home 1st and 2nd in the MV60 category respectively and to John, Dave, David Hay and Michael Maxton for winning 2nd male team prize. Special mention to us girls who won hands down on the dance floor! Only 300 and something days to go until next year! Results and photos are now posted.

was the sole Hamilton Harrier to compete in the Musselburgh 10K
in a very respectable 37mins 42secs.
10/07/09 Isle of Arran Half
Congratulations to both Dave Adams Jnr and Dave Adams Snr
who ran the Arran half marathon last weekend. Dave Adams Snr finished first in age category while Dave
Adams Jnr clocked a ridiculously quick time of 1:31:52 for a first ever half marathon. Well done!

Well done to all Harriers who ran the
Kirkintilloch 10k. Claire Purdie collects 3rd prize in FV35 category, Amanda Lang runs sub 55
minutes (54:20!) in her first ever 10k and Monique Duffy follows close behind in her first
race with the club. John Berry, chased by the girls, is the first Harrier across the line.

Joanne Melarkey, Claire Purdie and
Lynne Kelly win the Ladies Team prize at the Kirkcudbright Half Marathon, with
after race photos proving they can run faster than they can shower. John Berry
and Ross Bickerstaff led the way among the Harriers with Davie Kelly representing
the club in the 11.2k road race. Results and photos posted.
10/05/09 Club Raises over £2000 for Motor Neurone Disease
Congratulations to everyone for
the fund raising and the racing too! The club has raised over £2000 and still counting. The Motor Neurone
Disease Road Races (4 and 6 miles) proved to be a massive success for the Hamilton Harriers. Twenty Harriers
